The Hub Covenant

Applies to: Ministry members ONLY. (Associate members have a slightly different set of House Rules)

The Sheldon Hub is an online community.

As Members of the Hub we agree to honour this Covenant together …

We all contribute to the development, the content, the quality and the tone of the Hub.

We will use the Hub as a place to explore, build up, inspire and encourage each other. 

Privacy and Confidentiality

We accept responsibility for our posts and take care to ensure that they are legal, decent, honest and truthful.

We respect the privacy of individuals, both Hub members and others, ensuring others cannot be identified.

We do not make allegations in the Hub against individuals or organisations.

We will not comment on matters which are subject to legal processes as libel and contempt laws apply online.

We contribute in the Hub without fear of being taken to task by friends and colleagues in the real world.

We are aware of the risks posed by sharing our personal details with others.

We minimise risks when we comment or post by making a conscious choice of Hub identity: Screen Name, Anonymous or Real Name.

Advice and Support

We understand that listing within the Hub does not imply endorsement by Sheldon.

When we make recommendations or rate resources we will be clear about our personal and/or professional experience and/or connection.

We understand that the content and conduct of outside websites is beyond the control of Sheldon.

We understand that the Hub hosts information and advice but is not a medical, legal or counselling site.

Sharing and security

We understand that Sheldon employs best endeavours to provide a secure framework, but security of our content is our shared responsibility.

We will keep our own login details secure.

We are free to promote the Hub to colleagues in ministry using the promotional material available both on and off-line.

We will refrain from logging in and using the Hub to demonstrate to non-members how it works.

We recognise that accessing the Hub in a public place, library, office, internet cafe requires special attention to security.

We understand that unless we own or control the relevant rights to the material, all material within the Hub is copyright © The Society of Mary and Martha*

We understand that unless explicitly stated on the website we may not redistribute material from the Hub website by any other means without prior written consent from Sheldon, Sheldon Lane, Doddiscombsleigh, Exeter EX6 7YT.

If things go wrong

We understand that Moderators are appointed by Sheldon to oversee the Hub.

We will report to the Moderators any concerns over material, identity or breach of the spirit of this Covenant (using the Report a Problem facility inside the Hub).

We understand that Moderators will delete posts which breach the spirit of this covenant.

We accept that the Moderators’ decision is final.

As members we understand that repeated breach of this covenant will lead to the suspension of our membership.

We understand that Sheldon has adopted a “three strikes” approach. We can re-apply to be considered for membership after a period of six months of suspension.

The Hub and its business is conducted in English and is subject to the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.

Cookies

We understand that the Hub website uses cookies to do things like save our login details and show us which forum posts are new to us. By agreeing to this Covenant we are consenting to use of cookies.

Updates and further details

From time to time Sheldon may update this Covenant. Substantive changes will be notified to all members of the Hub.

Further details are provided in the separate Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

There is a restricted type of Hub access for Providers of Resources in the Connect in the Real World zone. Providers have their own House Rules.
